Smith 19-4, a good day

I've been wanting this 19-4 for a long time, I'd posted about it months ago. Well, today I talked my wife into a pawnshop prowl since we're on vacation and to my amazement the 19-4 is still available. The shop had dropped the price by $100 and my wife started working the shopkeep hard. To my amazement, she knocked another $50 off and, she bought it for me!!!

A good day or what? I'm thrilled!

Well, I'm pretty sure there's a piece of jewelry in her future

Just realized I didn't say much about the gun. It's in pretty darn good shape with just the slightest of handling marks in the nickel. There's one divot about the size of an ice pick point visible on the left side just above the trigger, even a jeweler's loop couldn't help us develop a good theory as to how it happened, may even be congenital. Been shot but not much, and no flame cutting so probably all .38 special. Nice case color on hammer and trigger. Pinned and recessed of course. Bore is pristine as is the barrel crown. Solid lockup, timing appears normal. All in all, a fine piece of S&W craftsmanship.

As I'd mentioned long ago when I first spotted this one, the gun fits me very naturally, I hope it shoots half as good as it feels. This will be my first model 19 and I have a sneaking feeling it won't be my last.

I think, if my wife went to work on a pawnshop owner and got me a nice nickle 19 like that one, I wouldn't be dreading her asking for what she wanted - I'd be looking forward to it!
