I'm getting out of Smith and Wesson Revolvers. I don't shoot them, I don't appreciate them. I plan to use the proceeds towards purchasing a 1911 I'll enjoy. I've shot my Uncle's custom Caspian 1911s and I want to get a good one and that's an easy $1,000. Plus the fiancee-to-be would be raising an eyebrow if she saw me bringing home another gun without some going out it may raise some troubles since she's expecting an engagement ring in December. I figure it works out all around.

I've got a Smith and Wesson Model 15-3 4" barrel, .38 Special, and a Model 19-4 6" .357 magnum. I'm not a hundred percent on the pedigree as the model 19 looks like it may be setup for target shooting. I'll include some past pics and why the fiancee-to-be would raise a brow or two. Also she knows this is not the full extent of my collection by any means. You'd be amazed how many older folks give you guns to clean all the tile and hardwood floors in their house.

I'm having trouble posting the pics for the Model 15-3 for some reason or another. Would trying to get $650 for the two of them be out of the question.

This is not really the place for a SALE ad, but a quick answer is that you should have no problem at all.

Jim

While it is fine to ask for information about value, please do not entertain offers or inquires here.

If you are interested in selling them, please go to the Trading Post section, read the rules and post a For Sale thread there

My apologies I didn't mean for it to come off as a classified post, I was just asking what folks thought about the revolvers and their value. I should have been more articulate.

You're fine, that is the way I read your post too...but this can easily go another direction.

My post was just a little stop gap to keep it on-track

That sounds like a fair price for the pair, but only to a private sale. I don't expect that a dealer will pay that sum for the weapons.

No the fiancee has fallen in love with 1911s, a certain Kimber model in particular. Plus I want another Ruger GP100 4" revolver on top of another 1911, so I have to unload some of the inventory and pick an engagement ring(the one she wants is under $400) up before that can happen or I'll catch flak. She's okay on my owning as many guns as I want so long as the bills get paid, money goes into the savings accounts, etc. etc. but I can't be bringing home guns that I don't get from cleaning carpet, tile, stone, wood floors. My best trade is my Ruger GP100 half lug 6" and $300 cash but I don't see too many chances of someone offering me one of those Canadian law enforcement GP100 4" .357s with the spurless hammer along with a $200 to do $1000 worth of cleaning in Central Florida.:D

Plus S&W K frames are not thing, I got into them, had my fun but they don't get shot but once a year if. I've got too many other ones I enjoy shooting. I want the GP100 4" with the factory spurless hammer for IDPA, and the 1911 because I love 1911s.

$650 for both is two low. If they are in very good condition I'd ask $400-$450 for the 19 and $350 = $400 for the 15. If you take less than $750 you are being robbed.

I would agree with jhvaughn - you will get that or more on an internet auction site I'll bet.

There are several different firearms I own I would sell...I am trying to sell my S&W 686-1 right now, for example.
But, I will never sell my Model 15-3 Combat Masterpiece.

And, hell, ugly as I am, I ain't gonna punt a good woman regardless

you could build her a riding mower with a 1200cc Kawasaki and let her play with some of your old revolvers...any woman would love that (right? :scrutiny:)

15's are hard to find around here. They get snatched up real quick. I've seen them for over $500 at gun shows.

Do your self a favor. Sell your revolvers on Gunbroker. I have sold at least 8 revolvers on Gunbroker. Example: S&W 686 4 inch, S&W 28 4 inch, S&W 66 4 inch S&W combat masterpiece 4 inch (pre-15). I have sold these a average price of $450 to $550 each. Plus the buyer pays the shipping to the FFL dealer. Be patience and your will be able to get any 1911 and have enough left over to buy ammo.
Good luck,
Howard

Fiancee-to-be? Does that make her your intended intended? (Not that it's any of my business.)

Anyway, jhvaughan2 is quite correct. Unless the guns are beaters, $800 for the pair is reasonable.
