After too many years, I finally got out the Springfield Longslide for a trip to the range. I have been shooting mostly SIG, Glock and CZ pistols in either .40 S&W or 9mm. The trigger on the 1911 is too good, I now have to have one in 9mm. I will use it for range and IDPA matches, maybe some ISPC too, not too many good choices as of now. STI and Para Ordnance both hi-cap, not what I need. So here is the Question: What experiences with either the Kimber AegisII Custom, or the Smith & Wesson SW1911 9mm PRO does anyone have? About all I know I is what I've seen from the web sights and I've handled the Smith at Buds in Lexington. My personal thoughts on each, Smith 10+1, Kimber 9+1, on looks the Kimber wins, Nice two-tone, Smith stainless with contrasting accents, I already have a stainless 1911, If the Smith had a blued slide I would lean that way... maybe... probably... might have to get the slide refinished if I get the Smith. Or find a 10 round mag for the Kimber.

Some other choices to throw into the mix
Springfield Loaded 9mm, DW PM-9, STI Spartan 9mm, Trojan 9mm.
Shooters Connection in Georgetown, KY should have the 9mm Spartan in a few weeks and has the Trojan in stock.

I don't think the STI Spartan is available in 9 mm, only .45 ACP. STI Ranger II is available in 9mm as are a few other STI models.

Looks like the STI Trojan 5.0 is at the top of the list now with the Kimber at the bottom, or off it completely. Now if the Smith was available with a blued slide and adjustable sights...Anyone with personal experience wish to share it?

Having shot a lot of S&W 1911's and a lot of Kimbers, I prefer the S&W. They have always been more reliable for me.

Kimber

After the customer service I recieved from kimber this week, I would go Kimber all the way! These guys are awesome! Really stand behind their product! Thanks, Joell

No Kidding

No kidding, I had a PPS and S&W is the customer service for those guys and they were about as helpful as a rock. Had an issue with my Kimber and they were superb. Dealt with it right away, have had two calls, one to let me know they recieved my gun, another from the actual smith whose desk it's on and to let me know what they r doing and when I can expect a return. Super nice and excellentlly handled. I have heard horror stories but my experience has been awesome! S&W on the other hand, well I won't own another if that tells you anything. YMMV Thx Joell33
