I bought a nice blued 4 or 5 inch barreled used smith. It is stamped MOD 29-5 on the arm. It's a 44 mag, 6 shot. The sights are adjustable and it has had an excellent trigger job. It does not have the modern key lock on it. If anyone has any info on this model I would appreciate any knowledge you might have (history, etc.) Thanks

It would seem to be a 5" "Classic" model. made from 1991 until 1994.

It also has all the durability enhancements that S&W made to the 29 design. The 5 inch barrel is probably the best compromise between portability, controllability and sight radius. Enjoy that 29-5!

While I personally prefer the 8 3/8 inch barrel to take full advantage of the .44 magnum's ability, I must say you've got a fine weapon there. enjoy it!

Congrat's on your purchase! :) I have the stainless
steel 5" barrel Smith & Wesson 629-5 Classic
without the intergal safety lock. You're gonna love
this weapon. Mine came straight from the factory
with a double action that is as "slick as a babys
butt"! :uhoh:  :D Enjoy~
