I swear I posted on takedown of this smith on this forum but I can't find it. Anyway I got it apart. The hang up in the end, the recoil spring had been trimmed and the free end of the spring walked over the recoil rod. The other issue was the hammer sear? Was way too light, a sharp blow would drop the hammer.

I filed in a new engagement and adjusted. She is firing but I think I overstreched the recoil spring or need to use a stiffer load (2.7 gr bullseye) as the gun would cock but the slide travel was too short to eject. Still was a good day at the range

Luger is another project, the toggle doesn't want to drop at times and also fte. I can't see where the toggle locks back. Usually dropping the mag and racking the toggle back will drop it, not always though, other time u just need to keep
pulling back and releasing. It was cold today, oil wasn't moving well at 0drg

I love my 52. I also use 2.8 of bullseye under a 148 gr. wadcutter, works well. It seems that is the classic load for these guns.

No gun, aside from air pistols, have ever taught me so much about my poor shooting technique. Particularly on follow-through, where the 52 forces you to be consistent and pay attention to what you're doing. I don't use mine for bullseye, but it sure helped me be a better shot.

Did you have full slide travel before working on it ? With out seeing it I'm just guessing . Can you feel slide dragging when cycled by hand ? When fired does slide come back far enough to recock hammer ? Check mag lips & ejector for drag . With a slde mount 30mm MatchDot you would need a 7lb recoil spring & might have to trim a coil or 2 off mainspring . I've a 1" UltraDot slide mount on mine & had to go with a Wolff 7lb recoil spring as stock 8lb would do same as yours . Don't have much slide momentum on a 52 anyway & anything that drags will affect cycling . I shoot 3.1 - 3.2 W231 , Rem 148 HBWC , Fed100 , R-P cases , taper crimp .369 . For a little more speed 3.6 VVN340 with above components gives me 800fps & is my cold weather load . Included pic of mine & 50yd training targets .

Will cock but not travel far enough back to eject. Has a 7 in it but the cut coil was hung up inside and the spring may have stretched a bit in removal. I prob up my charge to 2.8 g bullseye and see if that does it, it is close and maybe .1 will do it, no drag btw. Thx for advise

Bump the load . You can go up to 3.0grs of Bullseye with a HBWC . Did you say you had to cut the 7lb recoil spring ?

No, I didn't cut it, it was cut, I assume that is how they went from 8 to 7. It was marked as such
