Just bought it. I'm familiar with "transfer bar" and understand my Smith does not have it, but does have a "positive hammer block" - SN is 7D07xxx. I was told it has DOB of '81 and I just posted on DOB thread to verify that. Obvious question - is it safe to carry 6 loaded with one under the hammer ?

Also, I've been told shooting +P .38 special is OK with stainless as in 64-2. Is that correct ?

Will post another on Smith Model 65 - want one for my daughter - stay tuned.

Thanks for your advice.

Yes.
All S&W's made since WWII have a hammer block safety bar, in addition to the rebound slide hammer block they always had before WWII.
So, modern ones have two hammer blocking safetys.

It is perfectly safe to carry fully loaded.
And P+ ammo is perfectly fine in it too.
