:) Well guys and girls many of you read and even commented on the thread I started entitled "Gun Show Beef". The gist of that story is that I was frustrated at the lack of gun stuff at gun shows here in Tidewater and being treated rudely by a gun shop representative at the show.

Well now the good news I have acquired a 4" round butt M-65-6 in excellent condition at a price I was very willing to pay. At the gun show I found no 65's but only a handful of 64's and 66's priced like they were made of gold instead of stainless. My real desire was to have a portable powerful revolver for various farm chores. The advantage is that in the warm weaher the first round up can be snake shot to eliminate some of the poisonous bird dog biters and the rest of the cylinder can be stoked to support the elimination of feral dogs and other things that just need eliminating.

Well after the gun show debacle I started looking at some of the web sites that sold police surplus pistols. I spoke with CDNN a couple of times and they had sold out and I found Summit Gun Brokers www.summitgunbroker.com. I had training on Tuesday so I got off of work in time to call Mark at Summit and see if he had any 4" 65's left. He told me they were about gone but he had one left that was in "pretty good shape" but had no box or papers (the advertised price included box and papers). After a bit of fat chewing and negotiating we settled on a price, I gave him the CC info and had my FFL fax him a copy. Mark shipped as promised on Weds afternoon and I received my M65 today.

I was not prepared for the condition of the pistol I received. I was, based on Mark's description, expecting a Fair to a weak good external condition but what I received was a strong good and possibly even an excellent. The pistol was a little dirty and looked to have been recently used with some simmunitions or the like based on some red gunk on the face of the forcing cone and extractor star. While my "instant check" was being processed I cleaned her up a wee bit and was amazed at the single action and double action trigger pulls. Lock up is tight, the action strong and secure. And boy does she shoot. I can tell you that I'm not sure that I have ever shot my 6" M28 this well.

Summit Gun Broker is a great outfit to do business with and he has a pretty good inventory of Smith revolvers and various other police/security company trade ins. Another thing that caught my eye were M66's that Mark has. He has a "bunch of 66-1 and 66-2 revolvers with 4" barrels as I recall going for around $325. Shipping is $15 and add 3% for credit cards.

I know a post like this is worthless without pictures but zI will post some as soon as I can figure out how to get a good picture that is not toooo big to post and get a decent quality photo
