I like being able to cock the hammer, uncocking it is not a problem, by use both hands to control the hammer press the trigger until you feel it release, take your finger off of the trigger which then engages the trigger block and let the hammer down.
I'm not so much worried about decocking it as I am about being able to cock it "under pressure." I have to admit, though, that I don't have much experience with them, and it might just be one of those things that easy once you get used to it.

I went to the gun shop today to look at a 638 to checkout the buzz on here about decocking it. I was able to de-cock it ok without any problems. It is a bit weirder than decocking my 637, but the no snaging when removing it from the pockets (like my 637 does) was real nice. Then the daggone thing followed me home, ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS LOOK AT IT !! I got to stay out of that place!!

Great choice de-cocking is a non-issue and SA is a bonus.

Under pressure as in close quarters attack? 5 shots DA no need to cock the hammer in that type of situation.

Or just any kind of adrenaline situation. Probably a non-issue, though.

Well, since I started this I guess I should provide some closure. Here is the LCR that followed me home:

It has one of the best triggers I have ever felt on an out of the box revolver. It really surpassed my expectations. So far I like it, and the less weight in my pocket.

There is no reason to buy small Ruger or S&W revolvers because they usually come with five shot cylinders. The SIX shot Colt is much better choice imo.

I would rather have something that is actually available to buy. I've not seen any of the Colts in the shops or gun shows recently.

There is another reason I like the availability of SA, other than the chance at a rabbit when out and about.

A few years ago, a very disturbed kid went into a department store in Omaha. He had a rifle (AK or sks with a 30 round magazine, I forget which). He just started picking people off. I wouldn't want to go up against a rifle with a five-shot pocket gun, but if, on my way to the nearest exit, I had the opportunity to take a SA shot at a longer than normal range it would be nice to have confidence that I could at least make a hit.

I know such cases are rare, but it's one of the situations where the availability of SA would help. In all the other situations where a gun would need to be used, the shrouded hammer of my model 38 won't cause any problems.

My pocket gun at work and off duty is a 1982 Model 37.

Man, I really like this little jewel. I hated the factory grips so I put old school j frame grips on it. The no snag is great. Wished I had gotten it sooner!!

I have had the exact same experience. Congratulations.
