I recently acquired a smith 1917 that was made for Brazil. All the numbers match which is nice. However, there is a four didgit number on the grips frame where the palm of your hand rests. The number is 5475. The font of this number is different from the other markings on the gun and were professionally done. Deep, consistent, evenly spaced and centered very well. I can't load pictures at this time but as long as my description of the location is adaquit, telling me what the numbers mean should be easy.... If you know what they mean. I have smith and Wesson books and have searched the Internet with no luck. I'm assuming the numbers were put there by Brazil but it's just a guess. Anyone know what the numbers mean? Thank you.
