The gunshow is this weekend and im in the market for a .22 pistol i have been leaning towards a sig mosquito but after reading so much about them i have become leary....how is this 22a? keep in mind its just gonna be a plinker so it will be shot alot...

Browning Buckmark.

Ruger MK3.

Those are your best bets if you plan on shooting them alot. Most who shoot frequently will agree.

the MK3 isn't a good bet if you like easily cleaning your gun... :D

that said, my MK3 works great, while the sig mosquitos some friends own jam constantly.

Very true, fortunately the MK3 only really needs a copper brush ran down the barrel, a spray of gun blaster in the action, and some lube to keep it running well.

Love mine. Thousands of rounds with no issues other than the duds.

Easy to take down for cleaning and is very accurate.

22a is an ok pistol. Keep in mind the grip is on the large side. If you have a small - med hang, try Beretta Neos.

The cool things these two pistol can do is to easily take down (or even detail strip), and swap different length of barrel. And they come with top rail mounted on the barrel. So you have have them preset for the target distance for your need.

My Neos has both 4.5" and 7" barrel. 22A has the same barrel length set up though, not as available on the market as Neos some time.

Once I got my carbine kit, I'll be rocking with 16" barrel.

I've got the 22a, Also have that NEOS. Much prefer the 22a, mainly due to the magazines seeming to be better functioning, as in the 22a feeds pretty much anything. Mine is the 5.5" and very accurate. The NEOS is accurate for me, more so than me, it's just kinda funky looking. You asked about the 22a, so I'm giving my input on that. I want a couple of more versions of it.

I have a Smith 22a as well others that are supposedly of "better" quality. However, I've found the 22A to be a great gun and unsurpassed for the money. I find myself shooting the 22A more then all the rest. The adjustable sights and rail that it comes standard with are excellent.

I've got them and shoot them a lot, but the S&W 22A is my favorite, although I have the 7.5" bull barrel model which tends to be hard to find. I've had it for 6+ years and have run ~10000 rounds a year through it (shooting steel plates) during that time. S&W has been outstanding at replacing broken parts or sending me shipping labels to return the pistol for repair at their expense despite its rather heavy usage. Like I always say "if you've never broken a gun, you just ain't been shooting enough!".

Neos is at its best with a red dot, we really stocked up on mags when CDNN had Neos mags for $10, I think they raised it to $15 recently :( I don't like that the safety rotates the "wrong" way.

The Rugers are by far the hardest to clean, I also really stocked up on Ruger mags back when they would sell all the mag parts for <$10 and you'd just need to assemble them yourself. I think they have raised prices enough to make it no longer practical to do so.

Buckmark mags are generally a bit more expensive than M22A mags.
