Smith and Wesson 22A?

I have a standard two tone with a red dot on it and the ladies love to shoot it, the other is a target grip pistol and is tough for smaller hands to handle. Absolutely no problems with either pistol. A great plinker pistol and easy to shoot

Saw one guy at the range slam a mag in and the mag shattered. Could have been his fault or the fact that it was cold out but puts me on unsure ground with one.

???
Only the mag baseplate and follower are plastic, so I don't see how the mag could "shatter". I've seen the +2 Glock mag baseplates let go, and I've had the welds on the base of a 1911 mag let go shooting the remaining rounds out the bottom.

Stuff breaks. S&W will take care of you if it does. Best service and support in the industry.

I love my 22A. I have owned it for several years, usually only used it to dispatch opossums. I mounted a red dot I had laying around on top of it this spring and probably put close to 2k rounds through it over the summer. I can hit groundhog sized targets at 100 yards easily.

Not saying open sights isn't as accurate, but the red dot makes it much quicker for me to get on target and stay there. Excellent little gun, although mine is picky and really likes to run clean and wet. I use Federal Bulk pack almost exclusively in my 22's. I've never had good luck with Winchester or Remington bulk, so my friends and I shoot nothing but Federal Bulk.

Also it might be worth mentioning that when i received mine it had 5 extra recoil buffers along with the 2 magazines, fired shell casing, and lock. The fact that so many people requested more buffers and now they ship extras with it speaks very loudly about their customer service.

Another thing worth mentioning is if you decide to put a red dot on it, plan on buying another case. Mine is the 7" barrel model and with a red dot it would not fit in the original S&W case, $10 fixed that and now i have a nice black case that holds everything very snugly.

How in the world can a steel magazine shatter? I'm doubtful that you observed an S&W 22a with that comment.

it is stamped metal. maybe what he saw was it coming apart at one of the welds.
