I received a mint condition one of these in a trade. I don't know much about them except for they were popular LEO guns before the polymer craze. Anybody have any experience with them and what is it worth?

I carryied a 5906 as a duty weapon for a number of years. It was a good gun. However, most did not like the double action first shot, then single action follow ups. Shooters often threw out the first round. I don't know what a 4006 is worth, but ten years ago I bought my 5906 for 180 bucks. That included 3 high cap mags, which were semi-prized during the Brady bill. Now when I see similar guns, the asking price is usally between 300 and 500.

Thanks, these things are hard to figure out. I have seen my model on Gunsamerica for $699 and most LE trade ins are around $400. I was guessing around $500. Mine has the adjustable target sights. These are pretty sweet, it might be staying in the collection.

I recall TSW models as having full length frame/ slide rails for increased accuracy, and removable rails. CHP loves these pistols.

Probably want to replace all the springs if you're gonna bet your life on it.

I've never seen any gun like the Smith and Wesson semi-autos, to show such tendency for the springs to go south.

I had a mainspring go soft on a model 59. Replacing it with a standard-weight Wolff spring got it back to running normal. I suspect its the drawbar spring gone bad on a 659 that has a skips-double-action problem.

I can't recall a spring failure on any other gun I've owned (which is quite a few.... errr, I mean just that single-barrel shotgun).

Wolff Gunsprings will sell you a kit (very affordable I might add) that will replace every spring in your pistol.

I definitely will not be betting my life on it, that is what my Kahr and Kimber(say what you want) are for. It is just nice to see an all steel auto that isn't a 1911. I grew up during the polymer years. I hope it is worth at least $450 or I will end up on the bad side of this trade.
