Smith and wesson 627 question

I was talking to some friends the other day, and one of them mentioned the fact of having to use moon clips in some 627's.
I really did not know that you have to use moon clips in any 627.
Can someone fill me in on this. The PC revolvers, like the 8 shot ones, do they take moon clips? Which 627's have to use moon clips?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

all new 627s are cut to accept cartridges either with or without moon clips. it's not a matter of "having to", but rather a matter of "being able to"

these aren't like the older guns which were cut to take half-moon clips...making them unable to accept regular thin-rimmed rounds
