S&W 627 question

Hi, I've found a 627 but have a question. Are all 627's .357 8shot moon clip guns or are some 6 shot? Thanks Mac

I believe they are all 8 shot, but I could be wrong. The early ones had the full underlug barrel, which didn't sell well in .357 due to the weight. Then they went crazy with a milling machine and took off some excess weight. Those are definately 8 shot with clips. The early ones had the support pin on the ejector rod. The more recent have spring loaded ball on the crane. I got one of the 627-5PCs a couple of weeks ago. Mine has a really nice double action trigger and is very accurate, more accurate and better trigger than my 30 yr. old M27-2.

The very first ones were 6 shooters.

i believe they are 7 shooters. the frame used to be the model 617. some modifications and they now have the taurus tracker 627
