I have a S&W M&P .40 that I was hoping to trade on this site. I was hoping to trade it for a Beretta 92, but have gotten virtually no response, so I was wondering is the values are far enough off that a one-for-one trade would be unreasonable? Would offering to throw in some cash and/or ammo level the playing field a bit? If so, how much would make it a fair trade?

Obviously there is some factor of supply and demand, and maybe everyone in my area who has a Beretta 92 is happy with it and therefore doesnt want to trade.

Thanks for any help here!

I've bought a bunch of M&Ps in 40S&W at local gun shows - the average NIB price is right now about $430. Storefronts tend to ask about $70 more.

Used, they seem to sell for $400ish. The 45ACP and compacts sell for a bit more.

The local gunshops in my town want $570-620 for M&Ps. I think they are smoking crack.

I bought my wife's M&P 9 Compact from Bud's for $470 by the time I got done with FFL transfer and everything. I can't really see paying much more than that.

The huge irony is I decided to send my wife's gun out for night sights, a trigger job and a fluff-and-buff of the ramp and chamber. The total cost of the parts and labor is $190, but the round trip shipping is $120. I don't know about you, but that drives me nuts.

When you add it all up, she'll have a $780 M&P 9 Compact.
