I was wondering if anyone has instructions on how remove the cylinder on a older Smith model 29.

Best recollection is to unscrew the lower screw that holds the cylinder and crane in, push the crane forward off the frame, and then take the cylinder off.

I think it's the same as the new ones: the front screw on the RHS holds the crane in (the part that swings out that the cylinder rides on). Take out the screw. Swing out the cylinder and slide the crane forward out of the frame and the cylinder.

Unload the gun. Close the cylinder, hammer at rest. Remove the frontmost sideplate screw (right side just above the trigger). Lay the gun on its right side, and open the cylinder. Hold the cylinder in its open position with your right hand and use your left hand to wiggle the yoke forward and out of the gun and cylinder at the same time.

Good Luck...

Joe
