Smith & Wesson 649

I have a 649. Yes, mine is stainless steel. ;)

It's a bit heavy to slip into the front pocket of a pair of khaki pants or nice slacks. It's not bad at all on a belt in a holster, though. And it's a lot nicer to shoot than a lightweight frame at the range. Mine is chambered in .357 magnum, but it's a complete bear to shoot anything other than .38 Special.

It was among the first handguns I bought. I really don't use it much at all anymore. I have an alloy Colt Cobra that is lighter. And a 3" J-frame that's easier to work and hit with. And steel Detective Specials when I want to carry a steel snubby. I really ought to just put it up for sale or trade it for an alloy J-frame.

I have my father's 649-1 .357 and I found it a bit too heavy for me to front pocket carry. So I bought a 442 that's about 7 ounces or so lighter.

Eventually I bought a Rohrbaugh, but I've kept the two S&Ws.

Here's a suggestion: Grow up.
