BETWEEN THESE TWO REVOLVERS WHICH ONE IS BETTER. TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THE BODYGUARD COMES FROM THE FACTORY WITH A LASER SIGHT AND WITH THE RUGER LCR YOU WOULD HAVE TO ADD THE CRIMSON TRACE LASER GRIP.

Sea Nymphs

It is hard to not be seduced by the siren call of a cheap but name brand gun. Both Ruger and S&W make some superb revolvers but these recycled toothbrush handles and sardine cans are an insult to their family names. But do give them credit for marketing genius.

Honestly, I'd just go with the one that feels best in your hand. May as well through airweight J Frames into consideration too, like the S&W x42. My sister prefers the S&W Bodygaurd .38 (she can manage 3" or smaller groups at 7 yards with it), while my soon to be brother in law prefers his 642. I tend to prefer my 642 as well; the action is a little heavier, but it is smoother than any Bodygaurd I've handled. The LCR has a nice slick trigger as well, but I like the trigger return on the 642 better.

So YMMV.

Even tho they are both inexpensive, both have gotten mostly positive reviews as SD type firearms. They are not advertised nor intended to be fun guns to shoot at the range. They are intended to be carried often and shot little. Considering the outstanding CS of both manufacturers and the lifetime warranty that comes with the Smith......I'd be happy to carry either. The Smith just fits my hand better.

I purchased a S&W bodyguard--mistake for me. The Ruger felt better in my hand, but I was seduced by the lasergrip. The laser may help in low light, stressful situations, but that's not easy to determine at the range.

Ultimately, I decided that pocket revolvers were not for me, but you may love 'em.

Yes, the S&W does have that laser site - but have you actually put the gun in your hand and tried to operate it???
It's difficult - to say the LEAST!

As someone else mentioned, it's NOT S&W's best piece of work....
