Ruger LCP vs. S&W Bodyguard

Nice evidence you used to prove me wrong...wait....oh nevermind. ;)

Though in honesty, i should have said, "...in my hands" at the end of the statement in my previous post. I cannot shoot anywhere near that well with a J frame using full power ammo.

Actually, I cheat - my Model 60 has a three-inch barrel and the 24.5 oz. weight really helps. I also have a Model 637 Airweight that was less than fun with +P loads until I changed the grips. It's still got a kick, but the longer grip allows me to use all my fingers to hold it.

I held both at a gun shop the other day and the bodyguard felt a lot heavier to me. I don't like the idea of a push button laser either.

Those who equate putting up with the LCP's handling (or lack thereof) with enhanced testosterone levels apparently also measure their manhood by how many times they can hit themselves in the head with a claw hammer. I can personally think of ways that are both more pleasurable and meaningful - and not self-inflicted.

You don't hit yourself in the head with a claw hammer for fun?....OMG...what a girly man. ;)

I admit the lcp is not pleasant, but painful as some say? I just don't get it.

"I cannot shoot anywhere near that well with a J frame using full power ammo."

not meaning to be deliberately contentious, but that just might have an awful lot to do with -
weight and barrel length of chosen J-frame
(weight, even if assuming ~2" snubbie only)
DAO j-frame or SA/DA j-frame
j-frame grips
j-frame sights
what "full power" ammo means to you (also relative to above criteria)

ain't a whole lot of choices in LCP weight and or grips
lots of choices available in j-frames, can matter

PS
count me amongst the wussies
~20 practice rounds per session of 380acp out of my LCP satisfies my mind
50 rounds, I can pass on
ran 50 to 100 rounds at a time when new, various ammo, once a week, several weeks in a row, to check reliability (flawless)
to check reliability, not because it was that much fun
"painful" varies, but you really can have just so much fun

I would probably feel the same way about a 357 LCR, if I ever shot one, which is real unlikely

I do not find the recoil of my LCP to be unpleasant in the least, I think it's a very fun little gun to shoot.

Now my Beretta 1200FP inertia operated 12ga semi, THAT sleek black lady kicks and kicks HARD! :)

By full power i mean +P. I also prefer +P in my LCP. I carry Corbon DPX .380+P in my LCP as a carry round.

I like my modified Airweight. The new grips add just 0.56" of height and allow me to grip the gun with all fingers, making it much more pleasant to shoot.

I was messing with one of those LCR's yesterday at the gun shop. I found it too easy to short-stroke the trigger, causing the cylinder to rotate, but no click (or bang, when loaded).

Was the first time i handled one, i didn't really like it. I prefer Smith and Taurus J frames to it.

If I was buying either the LCP or Bodyguard, I'd go for the LCP.
Why? The LCP seems to be past it's problem stage, the bodyguard hasn't
found it's problems yet.
