When the first came out I was really interested in this gun. Read many reviews and watched a number of YouTube videos. I bit the bullet so they say. I never fired it with 45 ACP, but I enjoyed using 410 buckshot. The gun was way overpriced at the time but as large as it was it was very comfortable to shoot. Here it is with its little brother, my 442... 9426402938_c58dda8661_o.jpg

Has to be a great range and tooling around the farm-type gun, very versatile ammo choices, I have guns in all 3 calibers, the price is an issue for me. Same for the .45ACP/.45LC Redhawk. I looked at both, but I really want a .45ACP revolver I can CCW. The Governor is a bit big for that, for me.

I love the heck out of my Governor... No rhyme or reason, perhaps -- it just "sings" to me... :)

With a crap-load of inexpensive .45 ACP ammo and enough moon clips, you can just "go to town" at the range. And as noted above, firing .410 shot shells is a literal blast... The big, bright tritium front sight works well for the platform...

As with the Judge, those we've sold have a horrible propensity to lead with non-jacketed bullets. That said, enjoy. I sold my Judge and brought my 624 back out of the vault.

I had one for a short time.

I had a blast running 45acp through it! Thought that was great.

I took some milk jugs, large pieces of cardboard and some various 410 handgun/defense loads out to a buddies farm determined to get a feel for a 410 handgun.

The spreads were large at even short range. Which would be fine, as long as those pellets are carrying some energy. It made a mess of the front of the water jugs, very few loads had pellets going through which was disappointing. With the 410 loads, I felt my range was much too limited. A 45acp is a good performer from muzzle contact to as far out as you can hit, the 410 is only feasible out to 7 yards or so.

I went home, ordered a 625 and listed my Governor FS/FT and couldn't be happier.

I saw a gun television show about a decade ago where some Taurus folks were shooting a Judge at skeet, albeit at locations closer to the targets than the standard skeet stations. They actually were doing pretty well.

I had a curiosity to try it, probably with a Governor as I'm fond of S&W guns. I'm sure the novelty of shooting at clay targets would wane quickly and I have not yet come up with any other excuse to buy one yet.

(I have a ton of 410-2-1/2 target shells left over from my skeet days)
