Hey Guys I have a question. I have a small collection of Smith & Wesson revolvers, I am most interested in the older blued versions of all calibers, but I like them all! I would like to know what is the best source of information I can find on them that is still available? I am really more interested in date of manufacture and maybe some history about them than value but that would be nice too.I have a Smith catalog and a couple of Roy Jinks books but they are hard to find. Is there a publication I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks

Do you have Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Supica and Nahas?
Lots of good info including breakdown of serial numbers by year.

When you want history, go to an historian... ;)

Roy Jinks is Smith & Wesson's in-house historian, and absolutely no one knows more about the company's history then he does. His book, History of Smith & Wesson isn't as well known as Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, but it covers a lot of history, and it can be ordered from the author at the S&W factory. Last I knew the cost was $15.00 (in hard cover yet!) and the author will autograph it for free if you ask him.
