I just purchased a new Smith & Wesson M&P 15 and what a sweet little weapon it is! I took it to the range Saturday and fired 400 rounds through it. I had to use really cheap, dirty ammo but it performed flawlessly. I zeroed the iron sights and will attach a red dot sight before I hit the range this weekend. I had to order a riser to get the scope up high enough to function. I carried AR's for years in the Army and I just love the Smith. I really don't see any drop off from the Colt. If you own one or are thinking about buying one sound off and let me know what you think.

I've had one since pre-november and absolutely love it. I've seen added a bunch of accessories and still love it. It's the most accurate AR I've seen shooting through either the iron sights or Millett scope.

The front sight post pins were a pain in the rear to remove but at least they were rock solid.

I have bought a red dot and a long range scope for mine. so far I just have more fun shooting the sites. It's always great to have a reliable firearm that's a blast to shoot. Everything from .223 bulk, military surplus, wolf, corroded winchesters... Never had a failure to go bang from the gun.

I bought one the other day and fixed a Bushnell 1x32 Trophy red dot style scope on it (the FAKE-Cog). Only put a magazine through it to sight it in, but man is it consistent. Mine was the optics ready carbine, so it's really nice and light. I'm looking into getting some flip up iron sights, probably after I free-float the hand guard. I love it, going to be my ride-a-long companion and go from job site to job site for more security in the secluded back roads of Virginia.

I bought a M&P 15T in April of '08. What a gun! I took it on a prairie dog trip (as my back-up gun) last summer, and with a good scope (6.5-20X) it was regularly hitting p-dogs at 250yds. The other shooters were incredulous at it's accuracy. Definitely a one m.o.a. rifle (with optics). This Spring, my daughter used it to shoot her first hog. For optics, she had an EOTec with a 4X magnifier, and made a 100yd shot on a running hog. Accurate and reliable - what's not to like.

I got a call last night from a friend of mine. His parents are having a major hog problem on their property here in Southeast Texas. We're going to pack up our AK's and AR's and drop some hogs this weekend or next! Can anyone recommend a decent 5.56 round for something as big as a boar? I consider myself an experienced hunter but I haven't ever hunted large game with a 5.56.

I've had mine since last summer. It is more accurate than the doublestar I have free floated. I think its my favorite rifle.

In East Tennessee and Northern Georgia the boars are bigger than I am and I use a 45-70 with hard cast 405 grain flat nose over 31 grains of H4198. In 223 the Federal Vital-Shok 60 Grain Nosler Partition or the Corbon DPX Hunter with a 62 grain Barnes Triple-Shock would probably be good options.

I've had my S&W for about a year. I can say that it is one of the best ARs I have fired, excluding a Noveske and some custom ones. Accuracy is very impressive, it would make a great light hunting/coyote rifle for anyone.

I have seen these weapons and think with the right amount of, minimization and the correct scope, it will be worth the purchase.

***i put 250 down on one yesterday, ill let ya know how it goes***

You're going to love it. Money well spent. I hit the range and sighted in my red dot scope. Very accurate indeed! I can't decide what's more fun... Iron sights or optical. At least it's easy to swap on the fly.
