Anybody here ever use smith-wessonforum.com? The reason I ask is because they seem to have an absurd registration system that prevents me from using their site. When you go to sign up for an account, this is what you face:

*Account Email Address *HOTMAIL, AOL AND YAHOO EMAIL ARE NOT VALID FOR REGISTRATION ON THIS SITE*:
NOTE: This site requires that you verify this email address.

I tried using a valid gmail account and it told me that this too was 'banned'. I contacted the site admin several days ago without ever receiving a reply.

Yeah, that's why I'm not a member. The only account they'd accept is my school one, and I don't want gun stuff going there.

But, it's their site. They're losing members, but it's pretty active anyway and I doubt they care to have the extra traffic.

You'll find a few sites like that and the reason for it is actually quite valid. All the banned email services they listed do not have zombie protection. That is, a hacker can use a program to register a bunch of fictitious email accounts under any of those services and use another program to bombard forums with zombie account holders. This makes the site open to all kinds of viruses, spam, trojans, and other bad things.

Just as an FYI, if you register with a "real" account, usually you can then edit the email address to your prefered account once you have finished with the registration.
