SMLE flipperdoo on magazine?

I wonder if someone had the Lee Enfield rechambered commercially and made alterations to the magazine so it would ride the round properly into the receiver. Would also explain the badly done olive drab paint.

When you get a new mag you will have to adjust the feed lips.

The best way to do that is to compare your new mag to someone's working mag. Since you have a number 4, you need to compare it to another number 4 mag as there slight differences with number 1s and the lips get set different.

Well one thing is for sure... if that "flipperdoo" aint flipperdooin' anything, then just grind it off and be done with it.

However a bit o' research is do here, that "flipperdoo" magazine could be worth $$ to someone!

Fipperdoo... I love it. hehehehe ;)

I'd've called it a hooterootus... but it don't make horn noises... neither is it a chingyderris 'cause it don't jingle none. it's surely not a gozzitmadoozle because it can't rotate 360 degrees. it's not a thingamajig because it has no bellows action and not a thingamabob because it doesn't oscillate vertically. it's not a bahoogey because it doesn't dangle. it moved forward and backward less than 90 degrees on a pivot... which makes it a flipperdoo.

just like my night vision scope it seems to be unidentifiable.

P.S. Uncle Mike, your military slings are too thin.

I ordered a spare mag. for my rifle. It had the same thingamajoo. I have no idea what it's for. Maybe someone will chime in.

As far as promag mags for the enfield it's pretty much hit or miss. Some work fine and others don't work. Their follower springs are three times as strong as needed. I have a new 10 round mag. that only holds 4 rounds. I'll bet the Chinese could make one that works for 1/3 the price.

I found it in British Enfield rifles Vol 1 SMLE (No1) rifles MKI and MKIII By Charles R. Stratton. Your "flipperdoo" is a magazine stop clip, found on early Lee Enfield and SMLE Magazines. It retains and aligns the rounds and pivots to allow removal of the spring and follower. That magazine won't fit a No4 Mk1 rifle.

they wouldn't let you trophy a bolt gun? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Charlie over? course if you get another and want to scav some pieces... lemme know.

I couldn't even get a bayonet back. Actually the only thing that made back was a Republican Guard uniform. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the rest of my crap. Of course my crap sat at another unit's armory for ~3 months with the locks cut so I have a fairly good idea.
