Recent threads on this site have emphasized that the smoke generated from shooting ammo with hard cast bullets is often more attributable to the lube than to the powder. Still, I was quite surprised by the extensive smoke generated from a new batch of reloads (my first use of Meister brand bullets).

The load was:
40 S&W with 175 grain Meister SWC over 5.0 grains of WW231
fired from a SW 610 (10mm revolver) with 4 inch barrel.

This load was much smokier than previous loadings with WW231.

Does Meister have a reputation for smokey lube? Which, if any, brands of hard cast bullets have relatively clean burning lube?

Smokey lube

I really avoid indoor ranges since my retirement as an police indoor rangemaster and smoke generated from unknown composition bullet lubes is just something else to avoid breathing besides the airborne lead styphnate from the primers.
