Smokin' deal on Zeiss scopes

No exports. Figures. I hate policies that date back to the days of export license requirement on hunting scopes. One of those would've been nice.

Is the Conquest line being discontinued? I don't see them anymore on Zeiss' web site. I have three Conquests, all have the RZ reticle but I paid a lot more than that so it's a ridiculously good deal.

They well may be. Leupold was selling their VX-II's at a substantial discount at this time last year, they then revamped their entire lineup in January of this year and they are now equal in quality to Zeiss, at a much cheaper price.

I bought a VX-1 made this year for $199 that is better than a 5 year old VX-3 that cost me $400. I paid $330 for the VX-2 with long range reticle that is better than my Conquest that was selling for $550 a few years back.

I'd say this is hurting Zeiss sales to the point that they have to reduce prices to sell them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a different scope replace the Conquest sometime next year.

How is your Leupold better than your conquest??

More eye relief? Better in low light for image brightness??

I've yet to look through any Leupold (and i have several) that compares to my Conquest for image quality in low light levels!

Is a Zeiss any good? I'm looking for something for a .243 Featherweight. but I think I want more power than 3x9.

I was looking at Burris because of the lifetime warranty. But I'm open.

Second thought, after visiting their website to look up their warranty they don't even advertise that they build scopes. I'll pass. Maybe they're getting out of firearms products altogether.

My money will go on another horse.

Zeiss advertises rifle/spotting scopes, binoculars etc on a sporting optics site. Check that one out. They keep the sporting optics separate from camera lenses, vision related and other components

Zeiss is no less than the gold standard of optics. Even their cheaper Conquest and Duralyt series scopes are very good and only a handful of top of the line scopes from any manufacturer can compete with Victory Diavari and Diatal product lines.

Many regard the 6-24x72 T* Diavari (and the equivalent Hensoldt ZF) as the holy grail of rifle scopes.

I also didn't see anything about a rebate when I went to that link. I see rebates on Zeiss items but not on that scope.

I just copied and pasted that from the link. I think its pretty clear. The Burris line does not compare. Sorry.

Well Abel, you talked me into it. Brand new Zeiss Conquest coming my way.

I bought one from Cabela's last month for an older Sako, just to keep the European thang going. Seems like a new VX3 in brightness so I am happy.

I ordered one from SWFA yesterday and got a back-ordered notice this morning. It seems they sold all of them yesterday.

A 3-9x40 Conquest with Rapid-Z reticule for $300 was too good to last. :(

I got a back ordered too for buying this morning. They told me they don't know when more scopes will be in.

That brings up another question. What happens if they can't get them before 12/31 which is when the rebate runs out?

I just spoke with Skylar at SWFA. He said more 3-9 Conquests w/Rapid-Z were coming in today and tomorrow. It's a really big shipment from Zeiss for it to take 2 days.

So happy Christmas after all. Every Christmas tree should have a $300 Zeiss 3-9x40 Conquest with a Rapid-Z reticule under it. Mine will after all. God bless us, everyone.

They told me the scopes would be in pretty quick. I won't hold my breath.
