I am wanting to carry my Smith 686 2.5" more. I would like a rig that allows me strong side carry under a coat for ccw. When I remove my coat I want a rig that knocks the socks off. I was thinking something exotic... snake skin first comes to mind... (then gator and ostrich). I certainly want a thick belt to match. Maybe a speadloader pouch too.. Certainly want the belt and holster though. Anyone know of a custom maker that makes 100% snake skin goods?
Thanks!!

try some shark looks great and is tough as nails! I got mine from Milt Sparks, belt , holster, and mag carrier. You can get the carriers in shark as well although it's not listed on their site, my next carriers will be shark.

One of a few I own.

There really are a number of exotic skins available - from snake, to shark, to gator, to ostrich, to elephant, to beaver tail, to stringray, to bull frog, to turkey, to lizard, and the list goes on. The most common ones chosen I believe are shark, elephant, and gator. Stingray and Ostrich are often chosen, too. Some of the skins are going to be more durable than others. I'd suggest checking with the holster maker and see what they may have available.

Thanks Gents...
I decided to go with Shark based on comments.
I am having the full rig made by hand. Very anxious to get it. I am now trying to decide what to do about grips. I really was thinking about getting some grips with my initials in them. Don't know if I would go w/ wood, ivory or even a damascus steel. All the accessories are going to be much more than the handgun, but when it is all done... look out....

I would choose something much more practical then Damascus steel for grips.

Cold when its cold, Hot when it's hot, and Rust like Crazy all of the rest of the time!

Not to mention, they would Weigh a Ton!

Yeah, I love exotic holsters

I picked up both of these from BearClaw Holsters last year. I'm not a rich man but when I wear these I feel like a million bucks - worth every penny.

Buck, I ordered from a guy that pretty much started one of the largest holster companies in america. He asked me not to state his name because he is just doing this as a favor to a guy that I deal with in business. So, I promised I wouldn't tell.. I will post a picture when they are done.

Lance, Holy rattler.... Those are beautiful!! That snake is what I am talking about!! Thant gator is hot too... but the snake stands out! Very unique! If you don't mind me asking, what you gave for them. Do you have a matching belt. Nice grips on that 1911 by the way.

I don't know what it is about the Western Diamondback but everyone goes ga-ga over it ... I think it's nice but I like the Gator WAY better. I have the gator matched up with a Bob Mernickle double-thick dress belt with gator inlays ... don't have a gator mag carreir, though. These two holsters are very, very tough. I bought them because they look nice but found out later that they are way more durable than anything else I have, so [I know this will sound perverse] I can wear my best holsters out hunting or camping with a greater confidence than I can normal leather - just cuz they are so scratch and moisture resistant. They are laid over kydex so they can't rot from within, either. Toughest holsters on the planet, I think.

If you don't mind me asking, what you gave for them.

He usually says the exotics add about a hundred if done to the whole holster - give or take depending on what you want to do.

Nice grips on that 1911 by the way.

Esmeralda. Grips were purchased to match the Gator.

Shoot safe!

I know it's an old thread, but I stumbled across the bear claw holsters a year or two ago, and was just thinking about them again. I went to their site, and its expired. Does anyone know if someone else does this? I really want one or two for glocks I have, but have not seen this anywhere else... I really want the western diamondback covered ones. Thanks!

Nice looking holsters!

Happen to know anyone else making any, now that the BearClaw website is not working. I assume they are out of business.
