I'm getting ready to buy a IWB holster for concealed carry. I've never owned a IWB before and was wondering, what are the differences between belt snaps and clips? Those of you who carry IWB, which do you prefer? Are there any pros and cons to them, or is it just a personal preference kinda thing? I would appreciate any and all comments on the subject.

Thank you all in advance.

I like the Alessi Talon Clip. I have the APX, WSDT, MOB and Talon Plus. Very secure clipped on the waistband and under the belt. Most of the metal clipped IWB rigs I've owned have either popped loose or shifted badly.

Thank you very much. Those are exactly the kind of issues I was curious about. I'm leaning towards snaps already.

depends on your preferance....Straps work the best overall..IMHO..

The "clips" that are used are fine, however my personal favorite of the bunch is made Lou Alessi...They are of the "talon" type and are very durable...I tend to use the metal ones with decent success..

IWB ?

Hi, Being over 40, and a little above my fighting weight , I don't understand the IWB holsters . Don't they require a extra inch or so on the size of the pants waist line to be comfortable ? Or do you wear different pants when you carry ? Must be why I wear belt slide holsters . I should maybe just get in shape . How are they while driving ?..........Wvleo

Dairy,
that is one sweet rig...It will serve you well..

WVleo,
I do not like IWB's..Never have...But yea you need an extra inch or 2 and a little bit bigger belt to carry a IWB comfortably...Belt slides are what I prefer as well..

Both.

Primarily carry a Glock 36 in a VM2 (w\leather straps snaps) or a FIST#1 Kydex (metal clip).
Sometimes carry a Glock 19 in a Comptac CTAC with the plastic clips.

Wear all rigs on a Wilderness 1.5" 5 stitch or Rafter S 1.5" leather belt.

My favorite is the VM2. Secure, very comfortable. Can wear it all day no problem. The FIST is SUPER thin, secure, but can get uncomfortable for all day carry. It's great for quick on\off (when having to enter the post office or schools, etc). The Comptac is secure and comfortable but I don't carry the 19 too often.

I carry

my Para Tac Four and my G22 in IWB holsters from Tucker Gunleather, their "Texas Heritage" model. They have sturdy black plastic belt clips--not j-hooks. The clips are more obvious than leather snaps would be, I believe, especially if the snaps match the belt leather. But on the other hand, it is very easy to remove the holster and put it back on, if your daily routine requires that-as mine does.

Since getting these holsters, I've completely abandoned my belt slides. There's just no need. In cool weather, I don't tuck my shirt (these are tuckable holsters) and I don't have to worry about my top garment riding up and exposing holster or muzzle. In the warm months I tuck. Simple.

I got a good belt (Urban Gunbelt or UGB from Bulman Gunleather) and found I didn't need to change my pants size at all. In my office I put the pistol in a desk mount. If entering places where I can't carry, I put the pistol in the glove box. In these circumstances, I tighten the belt one notch for better fit, then loosen one notch when I reholster the gun.

I'm 69"/175 lb with a bit of a spare tire thanks to my love of fine ale, but I have no trouble concealing a full-size auto all day in complete comfort. I'm sold on IWB tuckable holsters.

I made the move to leather and snaps, and will never go back!
Mine's from AKJ concealco
