Sniper Rifle sugestions

The FN SPR, their police sniper rifle, is merely a Winchester model 70 action with a different stock and barrel.

I realize this...I just happen to feel that the Winchester/FN rifles are of better quality than most others out there.

I can now feel the old computer warming up for the flames its about to recieve...

I can only say this is experience on my part. Worked at a large rifle range for two years...seen more Remingtons come through that couldn't shoot than most other rifles...their ammo is, for the MOST part, junk.

With companies being profit-driven, I see Remington being MORE profit driven than most others...

MTCW and YMMV

Don't get me wrong-- the FN SPR is a nice rifle. The ones I have seen personally shot well. If you search SnipersHide and SnipersParadise, you'll find some mixed reviews. The SPR retails for just over $1000, while a Remington PSS is around $700-800. They're in the same range.

Stepping up to $2000-3500, you can get into custom built rifles from GAP, KMW, IBA, etc, or the factory rifles like the SAKO TRG and AI AE.

Not wanting to start a "my rifles better than yours" war, but one nice thing about the FN SPR is that it is not long-throated like the Remingtons are. You can seat your bullets so that you are .010-.015 off the leade of your SPR and still mag feed your cartridges. You cannot do that with any factory M700 that I have seen.
