Snow for Cover?!?

ricochet

Once the snow melts away our club recovers quite a few undamaged bullets on the ground: cast, plated, jacketed & heeled 22LR. It was as if they never impacted the ground.

Having 2' or more of mature snow (i.e. left over from several storms) on the ground seems to deter ricochets. But if a rainstorm or warm sunny day comes through and leaves the top layer glazed over, all bets are off.

I'm in Michigan and would not hesitate to use a snow bank as cover right now. They are currently more ice banks than snow banks. Some are a good 10 feet tall and solid as a rock. Early in the winter I would only use one as a last resort.
