Sitting with your back to the wall can be a pain if your buddy likes to do the same. I found the solution is to pick a wall with a mirror on it. That way one guy watches the mirror and generally is able to get up faster, the other gets his back to the wall, but usually has his egress slowed.
Never been to Kansas. Last I heard of it it had Tornado's and was only visible in grey scale.
