I realize that most shops will be closed, but does anyone intend on picking up a new boomstick to honor our founding fathers intent?

Especially considering the direction the current abuse of charter the current politicos seem so bent on.

I'm considering a 22 pistol or 10/22 rifle. Not sure just yet, but for some reason I'm itching for a 22 auto of some sort. The 4th is as good as an excuse as any.;)

Plus, I'll be listening for the gun fire at 11 EST. Was that AM or PM (I don't want to be 12 hours early:eek:) can't find the thread at the moment and it's time to head out.

You know, I wanted to do exactly that! Then, on Sunday when I received the newspaper, I opened to the Dunhams advertisement. They had one, tiny 3" by 3" ad...and the prices are higher than usual. What gives?! They missed the opportunity to sell several firearms in celebration of the 4th of July.

Oh well, it isn't like I really need more firearms, right? :D

I think I'm going to put my old video camera (used too little to justify) up for sale, and put the proceeds toward reloading stuff. That's as close as I'll be able to afford this year :) And while it won't be sold on the 4th, I'm going to try to at least get the ad up there, so it's officially ... commemoratory :)

I hope to be able to pick up my CZ P-01 this week.... Got my permit just waiting for the gun! :(

The USA is a great country. If you want to go out and buy a gun legally on the 4th, you have my permission. :)

Wasn't intentional... it just sort of worked out that way. I've got a K98 Mauser enroute from AIM Surplus at the moment. The urge just overtook me and I couldn't help myself :D

The currently offered rifles are Russian Captures... i.e. sixty-odd years ago some communist peasant on the Eastern Front "liberated" this rifle from a Nazi soldier who... shall we say... no longer had need of it. Rifles were refinished in a Russian arsenal and stored away for a rainy day.

So I'm celebrating the 4th by adopting a rifle made by Nazis and captured by Commies. It will now have a new home in the Land of the Free!

We are meeting a guy that wants to sell two mosins @ $50.00 ea. If they're decent we'll buy 'em.

Yup. Bought a Colt Peacemaker 22 off a member of THR. It'll match the one I already have in the safe, finally giving me a brace of Peacemaker 22's. Now I gotta some leather made up for 'em so my son can wear 'em just like his daddy wears his 44's.

I thought this was America? I guess it is. Buying foreign made goods seems to be the American way these days. I think I will go out and buy a HiPoint Carbine today. I have heard good things about them and the shop down the road has them fairly cheap ($179 NIB). Made in Ohio I think...

While buying American is preferable, buying ANY firearm is a celebration of America. After all, we're the only nation in the world with a constitutionally-recognized right to keep and bear arms. Use it or lose it, baby.

I'm going to be getting one either today or tomorrow. Probably a Remington 870 Express synthetic, if the local gun stores have one.

Well, I used it as an excuse to buy my AK last year. This year? Probably nothing, unless Gander Mountain has anythign cheap when I get that way this weekend.

We are a nation of (legal?) immigrants. I already have a Garand, a Springfield '03A3, an M14 (M1A), and an M4(gery)... all born in the U.S.A. Still shopping for an M1917 to bring my American WWII-to-present collection up to date. I figure giving a new home to a few WWII vintage "immigrants" is the American thing to do. :D

i want to get something, just dont know what yet. could be black powder, a big pistol, or a "sniper" style rifle to work on my scope skills.

Sounds like a good excuse to me, and I'm always looking for a good excuse to buy another gun.
