So how about those 20rd Ruger Mini-14 mags they're finally selling....

I ordered some the day they went on sale, got a "back ordered" message almost immediately, then they shipped the next day. Took about 3 days to get to me.

How does one order them, from the site, if you can't add them 'to the cart' as they are out of stock?

I've had no problems with a variety of aftermarket mags in my mini--but since they were fairly priced and are known to be trouble free, I want a couple of 'factory' mags.

Somebody mentioned on this forum or another that they found a phone number on the website and called in the order.

My new Mini-14 came in today. This is my second one. I have a 2007 with the "skinny" barrel. The new gun has the heavier barrel and also came with a Ruger 20 round factory mag.

I have 4 Pro-Mag 20 round magazines already. So I compared the Ruger and the Pro-mags and the PM mags look just like the ruger mags. I am wondering now if PM makes the 20 round mags for Ruger. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

I haven't had a single issue with any of the pro-mags either. If I buy any more mags it will be the Pro-mags for $20 and not the Rugers for $30+ dollars.

I have not seen a new factory Ruger Mini 14 Mag, but the old ones were night and day better than Pro Mag mags.

I have some USA mags and they are great. I also have some others that I can not remember who made them, but they are great too. "Precision" maybe. ??

Hi Walkalong. I'm new to the mini-14 and I was looking at the ruger and PM mags again and I still have to say they are really close in construction. Maybe the older mags weren't that good. I just can't say.

I can say the PMs I have bought in the last couple of months have been top notch performers. Each one did lock in kinda hard so I took a little off the locking tab at the back of the mag. Now they snap in with no play and do not have to be forced in. You can't make an adjustment like that with an AR mag that just goes straight in.

When I bought my mags from Academy I did save the receipts just in case. So far I haven't taken a single one back.

Just rec'd 2 genuine Ruger 20 Rd. mags for my Ranch Rifle. I find that the bolt must be open before they can by locked in, sort of a similiar situation with my old SKS and its mags. They operate and feed fine.

Ruger has them on sale until 1/31, marked down from $39 and change to $29.95. They will backorder and ship as they become available.

FWIW

John
