Some of you may remember this thread, where I was looking to get a Python to celebrate my graduation. This has been my dream gun for a while, so I figured it was as good an excuse as any. :D You guys all encouraged me to go for the gusto and get the Python, and today I picked one up locally.

It was at a pawn shop nearby and I visited it a few times over the past couple of weeks to make sure I looked it over thoroughly. I ended up going just above my spending 'limit' of $1000, but I think it was worth it. It looks like it has never been shot. The only wear is a very, very faint cylinder turn line. No box or papers, but I really don't have any use for them. This gun will be a keeper. As far as I can tell from the research I've done, the gun is perfect with the correct stocks and all. Here are a couple of hastily taken pictures I snapped to show you guys.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with it. It's exactly what I wanted. Now I have to wait til the weekend when I can shoot it! :cuss:

That's a beautiful gun at a very good price. You should be very proud.

And it honestly looks almost unfired.

You scored twice...Congrats on both the Python *and* your graduation!

ps: You got a good deal.

Good deal. Great looking gun.

"No box or papers, but I really don't have any use for them."

Everybody I knew back in the '50s, '60s and '70s used the boxes for targets or target backers. Who would ever want that useless clutter?

I am a Python lover. I have that same gun but different stocks. I love mine. I personally think the 6in is prettier and shoots a little better than the 4in but would love to get a clean 4in to carry.....here's mine.

Love the Python, and think it is the best looking revolver ever made!

Congrats on the purchase and I know you'll love it!

Looks great. Congrats on your graduation and your graduation gift. Well done.

And all I got for my College graduation was a stinking Ruger SP101! Well, actually I love my SP101, but that is one beautiful piece!

Congratulations on you're graduation, and being the proud new owner of that beautiful piece of American craftsmanship.

it was my honor to be part of that conversation when you were contemplating what to purchase.

a Python is its own reward. Congrats for your graduation. A lot of work and a job well done.

Took the Python to the range tonight, and it was everything I thought it would be. Definitely the most accurate gun I own. Single action is crisp, smooth, and easy to shoot. Double action I don't have much experience with, but it is very smooth on this gun and I had no problem keeping the shots in a decent group.

.38 is nothing through this thing. The .357 gave me a headache from the sound and pressure, but the gun handles them so well. I am so happy with this purchase. I think I'm gonna pick up some speedloaders and some rubber grips and go to town.

One thing I did notice is that the cylinder latch is a little loose. I think I will send it to Colt to have it tightened and have the rest of the gun checked out, just to be safe.

Get a good pair of ear muffs while you're at it. ;)

Nice looking revolver you picked up there!

I had earmuffs on! lol. It wasn't so much the sound as the pressure in my face.

Beautiful revolver..

Congratulation on your graduation and for rewarding yourself with the one of the finest revolvers ever made.

The Python's double action "stacks." It builds resistance before it lets off and a lot of people don't like it. I rarely ever shoot revolvers double action so it was never an issue with me.

Pachmayr Gripper Pro grips are very nice on this revolver. Again, congrats and welcome to the Python owner's fraternity.

Yeah I thought I noticed that. Different, but nice. I prefer shooting it single action, but I had no problems with accuracy even in double action. I am very impressed with how accurate it is.

When I saw your pics, I had to go check my safe as I didn't know how you got into it.
That Python is just like mine, including the gray pistol case! By the way, mine was still there.
