Well we were young kids who didn't know any better. Besides too many of those danged things caused a lot of telephone pole damage. Bird Law be damned.

**From my research I can only conclude that it may be a ptarmigan. Just tell us the Sapmi word for it, google can do the rest.

The videos you posted on Youtube look fine to me. I don't see any problems.

Everyone hunts these birds this way, some with even larger calibres. There is practically no chance of hitting anyone, it is not like i would shoot towards a village

Also, since i could not replicate the problem, i do not care about it any more
But, i would like to emphasise that it was two or three failures to extract and eject the case, not feed it into the chamber.

Wikipedia says that they are called § Tetrao urogallus birds

    Here, watch a hunt

Wow that's pretty interesting. I've never seen any kind of bird hunting like that before. Looks pretty challenging.

If I remember, the Howa has a 1:12 twist. The Tikka will be 1:8. Keep that in mind if you have a particular grain of bullet you are planning on shooting.

Which would be fine if I was referring to the OP in my post regarding the migratory bird act. I was not. It was obviously directed at Big E who mentioned using woodpeckers as target practice with a listed address of Boise, ID, which last I checked was still in the US and under the jurisdiction of the Migratory Bird Act.
