Along with a 100 round value pack of bird shot, and 3 15 round packs of 00 buck. And all I got to shoot was about 40 rounds!

I took my future sister in law shooting with me, and once she picked up my shotgun she didn't put it down! Before I knew it that 100 round box became a new target down range.

We started off with my 9mm 1911, but I basically ended up just shooting that all day, after she wouldn't put my shotgun down, haha!

She said she's gonna save her pennies to buy a 12 gauge, now. She had a blast, and I had a lot of fun showing her how to shoot.

Of course, her Facebook now has about 30 new pictures of her shooting that she made me take :)

Man I love getting people hooked.

Good for you guys. There's a sweet general purpose 22" pink camo 20 ga. pump with adjustable length stock they make she needs.

Sounds like you all will be very close...

I think the best part of the experience was that she was consistently hitting things. The look on her face when she blew up a water bottle or a tennis ball went flying over the berm was priceless.

I set up my stands that hold a clay on top at roughly 15-20 yards away. I was getting set up to hit em with my pistol when she decided to start knockin em down with the shotgun.

I have a fond memory of my Dad, who until about age of 70 had never fired a gun. He came to Flagstaff to visit and wanted to shoot clays with my Brother in law and I after watching us for a few minutes out back of the house. That was truly the most wonderful moment in my gun related life, as my Dad and I never had much in common until that day. The smile on his face when he hit that first clay was something I'll cherish for life. It's a special moment when we introduce someone to the firearm sports, and even more so meaningful when it's a family member.

Great to hear you got your Sister in law attracted to firearms! Good job and keep reeling them in.

Thanks guys! She's already begging me to set up another range trip.

My brother, her fiancé has also been asking me for quite some time, but our work schedules have clashed, so that hasn't happened yet.

But I'm also about to start a new career, with a better work schedule, so that'll happen soon.

Good on you. The more people involved in the sport, the better. Particularly women (who are higher-than-average targets for crime but have lower-than-average gun ownership). And a Mossberg 500 is a fantastic inexpensive shotgun...good choice there.

Yeah, I posted how I came to be the owner of this shotgun last week. I was cruising around the gun shops looking for a pocket revolver to no avail. The last shop I checked had this used 500, so I traded in a handgun for it.

I'm definitely glad I did, as I think my family and I are going to have a lot of fun with it!

She also enjoyed shooting my handgun, but she needs a lot of practice. I was impressed that she picked up proper grip and trigger technique so quick, though!

I have a few shotguns but I would have to say that the 500 is one I really enjoy shooting. Maybe because it is the first new gun I ever bought with my own money. You mentioned about facebook. I don't know if you are on it much but there are a lot of sites, west michigan gun exchange and the such on there that have some pretty good deals on guns. Also garage rats is a good one too. If you message me I can give you all the sites I have liked on facebook.
