So the extractor on my C96 has been bent for a long time, and I've been unable to shoot it effectively.
After reading an article or two, I pulled the extractor (a spoon is the best tool for this BTW) and stuck it in my wallet. I took it to the family shop, annealed it, bent it back to the right shape, oil quenched it, then burnt it for twenty minutes in the oil. It worked like a charm, and has made it through ten rounds. It also left a better finish than on the pistol .
now I need to come up with a way to polish the chamber (pitted) so it's not so grabby when it's hot. I'd say a reline is the answer, but I doubt a reline goes all the way into the chamber.
