I have long been a fan of Acraglas Gel bedding kits but decided to try a different brand to see how it worked out. Brownell's Glasbed kit stock #081-050-002 seemed like a good candidate to try. It was color specific, brown or black, your choice. It was self contained just break the divider seal and knead for 4 minutes. No measuring, adding flock or color pigment. It also costs less than Acraglas. All worked as advertised BUT after bedding 2 actions,1 complete barrel channel and filling a void on another synthetic stock,I still had to throw half of it away! I think I will be money ahead to go back to the Acraglas Gel and mix as needed. I just can't stand being so wastful!

Agreed - I hate wasting the little left over after mixing AcraGlas reg & gel. I'd rather have a bit left over than run short, so I mix accordingly, and set up a couple of things, like you did. I smooth the rest into the barrel channels of a couple of M14 fiberglass stocks. In a couple more years they'll be smooth from one end to the other...

Have you ever tried the Miles Gilbert brand from Midway? I bought one on sale for a few bucks a year or so ago, but haven't used it yet. I'm still working on the AcraGlas kits for a couple more jobs.

I used to use a similar bedding compound with a breaking divider. If you empty each of the compartments separately (without breaking the divider)into different containers (preferably with volume marks on) then you can work out the mix volumes and mix up the quantities you require. The remaining compound will last for a long time in the capped containers.

Good idea gun nut. I was just following the manufacturer's instructions. If I use that kit again,I'll do as you say. Thanks.

No problem - I got fed up with waiting till I had four guns to do at the same time before opening the packs!:banghead:
