So, should I get some heavier bullets for 5.56?? For 1:8 TWIST

I remember once during a discussion of accuracy it was posted that most of the top shooters only spin the bullet just fast enough to stabilize it. If I had a 1:8 I'd be experimenting with the heavies, for sure. At 100 yards they'll deliver a knockout blow.

Both my AR's are 1 in 8" twist and shoot 40 gr up through 77 gr with decent accuracy. The 24" heavy barrel Stag is sub MOA with all of them. The M&P 15 Sport is under 1.5 MOA, even with the 40 gr V-Max's and Ballistic Tips. They do shoot the 69 gr Nosler verry well, even at longer range 400 yards +.

Mr. Ants said it best (see his post above) the current craze about different twists is often comically over-thought, over-talked and over-opinioned. The most accurate .223 in my collection has 1/14" twist, which I ordered for shooting 55 grain and lighter bullets. My next .223 will also have a 1/14" because I know it works beautifully.
