I bought one soon after they hit the market. I really liked the gun, but mine had some barrel peening after only 150 rounds. Not good at all. I got freaked and traded it. I've since wanted to try another, but the problem seems to have been fairly common. Are we looking at another future recall like the trigger recall, or have the bugs been worked out? I would like to hear from actual SR9 owners with either good or bad experiences. Thsnks!

What do you mean by peening? I would like to see Ruger make an auto pistol that they don't have to recall shortly after release. I have a Mini 14 and a GP100 and a SP101 that I really like and I trust the company, and hear great things about the customer service (I haven't had to find out first hand as my models are just that well built). The SR9 was the first good looking Ruger auto that appealed to me. Too bad there's the reported problems.

I have heard of the problem, but mine does not evidence this. about 800 rounds and nothing but good shooting.

I had to send my SR-9 back over barrel peening after 400 rds. The trigger pull sucks, one time it feels like 6lbs pull , the next its 10lbs pull. Ruger did replace the barrel + paid shipping both ways! Its a first year gun, i got it in July of this year. I'm trading mind in, may be you'lll have better luck.

I bought mine back in the late spring and have somewhere around 700 rounds through it. No problems at all. The trigger was a little gritty but cleaning out the striker channel solved that. I know there have been some peening issues with some guns but I don't think it as wide spread as these forums would lead you to believe. I see some of the same folks posting their problem on multiple forums. Again thats not to say their haven't been some problems. Ruger doesn't get a lot of love on the forums but I own several and have no problems with any of them.

I've got close to 1000 rounds +/- through mine with no problems.
It's a newer model corrected with the bladed trigger from the factory. No failures, no jams, no peening. Just a constant trigger pull and passable accuracy for a service grade sidearm.

Same here, about 1000 rounds with no problems. The trigger gets better with use but wasn't bad out of the box. Still, I'm anxious for Ghost to release their kit for the SR9.

I bought one about a year ago, but I only have a few hundred rounds through it. I found out about the barell peening issues recently through reading forums. I really wish I hadn't as it has me worried now. That being said, mine has functioned perfectly every time I have shot it. No failures to fire or eject. Magazines are hard to load, but I hear they get easier with use. I am just going to go out one day and try to shoot a few more hundred rounds through it just for a piece of mind regarding the peening issue.

The SR9 that I had was accurate, but had the peening issue around the barrel hood. I would guess it's from incorrect tolerances and maybe soft metal. There best way that I can describe peening is this. Think of striking a steel chisel with a ball peen hammer over and over until the metal starts to mushroom at the end. That's peening.
