SOCOM abandons the MK 16 SCAR?

MT, I solved the cleaning problem when I was in Iraq with one simple step. I didn't clean it. Just kept it super lubed. Ran great. Of course it wasn't my primary weapon. That distinction was held by St. Brownings 50. Which is an even bigger PITA to clean.

There is nothing wrong with the M4/M16 series it works when the equipment is properly maintained, when was the last time a unit went through everyone's weapon pre-deployment extractor, springs or gas rings, or even gauging barrels. The Stoner series is solid platform as long as you properly maintain it, in other words the military in general doesn't fix things until it's broke. I can go out to a range and shoot 500-1000 rds out of my Shorty M4 with minimal lube here in Afghanistan and have zero malfunctions unless its magazine related. Why? Becuase I have a brand new upper that hasn't suffered the abuse from many different soldiers before me. Bottom line you take care of your rifle and it will do the same for you. Unfortunately many soldiers complain because the system is broke in properly maintaining their rifles. On another note the the 13.5 inch short barrels on the SCAR-H with the stock folded is quite nice for mobility.
