For years I've tried to beat into people the one rule they should live by. Never, ever, ever, ever, sell or trade a gun you have even a modicum of affection for or it will become a bitter part of your life that will far exceed any momentary monetary gains. Just DON'T do it.
Money comes and then it's gone. But a gun only goes up in price. I regret selling every gun I ever sold in a moment of weakness. That trip to Cancun is now a hazy memory and all I have to show of it are some fading photos.
In today's world, many of the top tier guns are fully functional, but they're ugly. Smith & Wesson will never put out the guns it once did. It's glory days are behind it. You still get a good, solid product, but where're the cosmetics? Where are the chromed triggers and hammers? Where is the beauty, the rich lustrous bluing of the past? My first Ruger Standard Auto cost me $92 and going to a gun store was like going to a museum. Replacing guns that were sold or traded is almost impossible now. So the best bet is not to let those guns go in a moment of weakness.
