I spent some time digging for just the right gun, and settled on a brand, and a model that's the same size as my P6. Here's what I ended up with (click for big):

Hey this box looks new (but it's not)!

Lots of stuff:

A close-up. A used Sig 229 ELITE, Jan 2008 manufacture date. 150 rounds through it.

Rosewood was never more tactical. Benchmade and Surefire agree.

The grain!

Dressed for serious business:

I can see in the dark!

It came with Hogue grips (so I don't mess up the rosewood), 5 mags (2x10, 1x13, 2x15), and a snap cap. I think the snap cap made the deal for me.

The 229 Elite has the custom grips, tritium night sights, the SRT trigger, extended beaver tail, and front cocking serrations that I probably won't ever use. The SRT trigger is pretty nice. DA pull is normal, but the reset after the first shot is only about 2mm and every pull after that is only 3 pounds. Good for some rapid fire action outside the range.

I put about 100 rounds through it at the range earlier this week and had no problems whatsoever. Going back today with my dad (in from Dallas) to check out his new 220!
