Actually, Entropy, I caught your earlier post. If you'll look at the link, you'll see that it's not true military issue. It's a reproduction and they offer 2 different styles, one for the 1911 and one for the Beretta. The one made for the Beretta is at the bottom of the page.

Easier for me to see as I was looking at the catalog last night and am considering getting the Beretta holster for my CZ 75. (Apparently, it'll sometimes take the same leather if it's not molded specifically :D )

Actually, the M7 shoulder holster has been used with the M9 pistol. I own an M7 holster that clearly shows the shape of the M9 slide. Whether the pistol was simply forced into the holster and stretched the leather, or someone took the time to actually shape the holster to the gun, I don't know. I have also seen photos of these holsters holding Berettas.

Regarding the M12 holster (Bianchi UM84), it comes in more than one size; the large (normal) for large frame, 4-5in barrel autos, a compact holster and a revolver holster. They all accept the UM84 accessories.

I'm not sure why he doesn't use an M12. I presume supply chain issues, or maybe the 1st one broke and he was just SOL. Gotta be pretty desperate I guess to work through 3 Iraqi holsters in under a year. Hell he had to go Mexican carry one day. He was laughing about it and brushing it off -- damn near made me want to cry. SOB shoulda told my brother on the phone what was happening. It's not like he doesn't know I'm a "gun nut."

Anyway, I think I'm going to pick him up one of Andrew Wyatt's suggestions. I just shot a link over to him for review. I don't personally own a 92FS (too dang big for my hands) but as somebody else said the CZ-75 should fit in there well. I'd like to give him a little eval time with the thing for familiarity before he heads back out --- and I've got a CZ for him to fiddle with.

While I'm not in the least bit surprised, and this wasn't my original intention of the post, but I've already gotten two emails from one fellow on THR that makes holsters who wants to send him one of his rigs for free. Another fellow emailed me telling me he'd pay for whatever I picked out. Totally above and beyond what you'd see on most boards. Certainly says a whole lot about our little community here.

The following isn't written to try and provoke any more charity from members here. I just feel since I've solicited you for advice you should know a little bit about the fellow.

He didn't sign up in peace time and go kicking and screaming to the Sandbox. Forces were already deployed when he went to the recruiter and knew full well what he was getting himself into. He tested high enough on the ASVAB to qualify for a tanker position so that's what he went after. He already had a steady job stateside (nothing great, but comfortable) but figured this was something he needed to do.

He's got more guts than I do, that's for sure.

Oh, and the bit we heard about CLP being horrid in a desert? It's true, according to him. I had no idea he had an issued weapon (M16A2 and M9) else I'd have done it earlier but I'm sending him back with a nice kit of MILTEC-1 stuff. He hasn't had any jams but that's because he figured out quickly to get any excess CLP off his firearms. Cleans 'em daily and cleans his mags out once a week (at least with the M9). No problems yet but a little extra help with some lube better suited to the area can't hurt, right?

I thank you immensly, and if anybody has any further suggestions I'm all ears.

Shoulder Holster

Ever hear of "wet fit?"

Pssst, cxm and KadecDeshi , I alreay covered that, the M7 does not fit the M9. The M9 pistol is too wide to fit in unless one slits one of the double stitches, which makes it weaker than those Iraqi holsters he's gone through.

I just dug out my M7. It's marked "CATHEY ENT INC" "7791527". The rig is very worn, but all the stitching is intact and my 92F slid right in.

The Safariland 6004 is the end all be all drop leg holster. It has totally replaced the Eagle and Blackhawk tac holsters in most tactical circles. My agency has completed its transition to this holster and it is amazing.

Having said that, any drop leg holster can get hung up climbing in and out of vehicles. I would go with the tanker style holster.
