Hi, this is a little complicated, so if you don't have any experience with this particular issue it may not make sense. If you DO have experience, I'd love to hear from you. I have a 1st generation G23 (no finger grooves). I want to put on the Crimson Trace LG 436 Laserguard sight (located forward of the trigger guard). However, the laserguard is not designed for the 1st generation G23 - it is designed for the ones with finger grooves. I've tried putting this particular laserguard on my 1st generation G23 and it doesn't quite fit properly. The lack of finger grooves creates an unsure fit and throws off the aim several degrees.

So, if you were in my situation, what would you do (assuming you were set on this laserguard design for your G23)? Which idea would seem most practical to you?

Hints:
  • have the grip surgically altered to create enough detente for the laserguard to fit appropriately?
  • trade the gun for a newer generation with grooves in it? (I kinda hate grooves btw)
  • etc etc etc

If the gun works for you, I'd change the laser prior to changing the gun. How about one of those Lasermax internal laser units? It replaces your guide rod.
