Some are still out there, I guess.

My standard for a good gun deal has always been $100. If I can get something actually made of steel that would shoot I figured it was worth $100. I have a bunch of guns I bought over the years for a C note or less.

Well, Sunday night I was casually perusing the Mausers on GunBroker and I saw a Turkish rifle that was certainly well worn but was complete (even has a bayonet with it). I think it was dated 1942 or 43 if I recall and when I spotted it the high bid was $59. I made a $90 bid on it for fun and won the auction at $81. Total was $106 with shipping directly to me via my C&R. So apparently you can still get something that goes BANG for about a hundred bucks.

Hey, I got about 1500 rounds of military 8x57 in the garage so for $81 I figure I can have some fun with it.

That is a dangerous road to go down.... It starts with a few Mosin Nagants and maybe a Steyr M95. Then you pick up a Mauser or four that are bargains. Who can pass up a bargain Mauser? Then there are those cheap Enfields that come along occasionally for a Ben Franklin. Next thing you know the guest bedroom closet is packed to the ceiling with a bunch of rifles and there are a couple Nagant revolvers in a shoe box.

I'm gonna make a floor lamp out of a 91/30

i agree with marktx, i fear by the time i move out of my current apartment i'll have so many i'll have to move out under the cover of dark so the other people on my floor don't see an arsenal going down the hallway...
where's my bathroom you say? well, that shares space with the armory, down the hall to the left.

Oh, if he already has his C&R, he's already well travelled on that particular road. I remember which of my C&R purchases was my first, but not my 5th or 10th... and they were all in the same month I'm sure. I really think it's like this for everyone.

I've had the C&R for about 5 years. Bought maybe 7 or 8 guns so far. I was just a little surprised that rifles were still out there for under a hundred bucks.

I have fended off the sickness so far.

I saw a rack full of 91/30s for $89 each and I looked a couple over.
Then I set them back down and made a speedy exit because I felt feverish.

Whew! That was close!

Five years and only 7 or 8 guns?? They ought to pull your license!!

I've had a C&R since 1994 and have had so many assorted guns that I've given several away to prospective gunsmith wannabe's as practice fodder.

But....I'm still buying. I bought a fabulous as new 1962 Colt National Match a while ago that's the centerpiece of my Gold Cup collection, and I'm waiting on the fabulous nickled Colt Police Positive Special presentation revolver that one of our members sold me just the other day.

I'm saying you need to get your fill of the $100. bargain bin guns so you can use that Collector's license to obtain fine collectible guns.

(I know that you know this, Saxon Pig - I've seen some of your guns. Above is for the audience :) )
