[EDIT: Wasn't sure where this fit best, so I posted in 'General', mea culpa if I was in error.]

Shot a few rounds today, very few. . .

Mossy 590 SP- Brenneke SF Maximum Barrier Penetration

S&W K-Frame .38 spcl. Buffalo Bore 158 gr. +p

K31- Prvi Partizan

Breneke SF MBP nothing short of amazing! Blew 4 one gallon 'milk jugs' to h**l went into bank a full 75 yards further with what appeared to massive penetration. I only found 4 'milk jugs', sorry. Next time I'll try 10. These 'jugs' were amazingly damaged absolutely shredded; I observed that there is no way a passing observer could discern that there were originally 4 in toto. I was around 10-15 feet away a got showered with water. And lastly, I had a Colt M7 bayo attached firmly blew it off instantly. Forgive me, but BADASS is the only way I can describe this round in its PRELIMINARY test.

BB 158 gr. +p is a powerful round for a .38 spcl. by 'miles' the hottest .38 I have fired in my life. Accurate as the regular .38 rounds I usually shoot; good kick but my K-Frame wasn't in the least bothered by the rounds- handled great; ejected smoothly each time. VERY impressed. The round is now my go to in an emergency if I can only get to is my .38, 'nuff 'said'. . .

Prvi Partizan- really just run of the mill ammo, according to what I have read but it shot well enough for me! I just have no basis for comparison. This is the first time I have shot the K31. Holy bat guano! First shot? Dead on Bull, no kidding! And I am a poor shot. Get this: I have had the rifle for ~8 years or so but never fired it. The Good Lord only knows how long it had been before that since it had been fired. I bought it from a 'milsurp dealer' years ago, easily could have the first round round in ~65 years. Gun manufactured in 1946. . . Just a superior firearm. This is not some internet babble, this is honest observation by someone who has a short range in their backyard. . . and shot less than an hour ago . Will try GP11, next.

No, I heard or tests say, yada , yada, yada, just a truthful report.

In conclusion:
Brenneke- unreal.
BB .38 spcl. +p- now my go to ammo in .38 spcl.
K31- buy one!

OR

I like militaria and have bayonets for all of my long guns. I generally affix them when I go outside to shoot, because I want to, it pleases me. Looks like it might not be an option with Brenneke ammo.

I am a 300 pound man, and the Brenneke slugs still had a VERY strong felt recoil, the obvious explanation for bayo disengaging.

How far did it go and did it have enough energy to impale itself into a body mass? Rambo would approve if it does.

How far downrange? 3.14159265 KM

Impalement? Impaled a large ant after passing through the digestive tract of an Antlion.

Wonderful and erudite interrogatories. ;)

Not me.

My Beretta M9A1 just doesn't seems to want one BUT it's reasonably useful. My Colt 1911 70 Series Gov. Model .45 serves a utilitarian purpose also but doesn't seem to allow a bayonet to be mounted! I get to sit admire the condition it is in. :D

My van, house, plumbing, etc. do not have clear bayo mounts either but somehow they are quite useful. But hey, that's just me. . .

LOL!

That's incredible.

More amazing would be if someone who bought one posted here and I wasted my time telling him why I think he shouldn't have, as if he would care. . . Now that would demonstrate true stupidity on my part. :)

EDIT: I believe that bad boy would slide right on the Beretta rail, so I am unclear on the "newer" part of your post. Hm.
