Greetings Citizens,

I have a guy at work looking for a small autoloader chambered in .40sw. He is looking specifically for something under 6.5" in length. I was just wondering what else might be out there besides the mini glocks, the springer xd, and the steyr s40. I suggested the CZ Rami but he wants said he would rather go with something that has been out for awhile rather than gamble on a brand new design. (I told him that CZ doesn't make bad designs but he just ain't buyin it :D " Any brand of quality reputation is welcome. Also please mention any experience with the suggestion if you have any, good or bad welcome.

thanks again

Kahr has an excellent reputation ,various models, excellent DAO triggers. Also look at the HK P2000,not so small but they have a compact version which ,I think ,is being introduced at the SHOT show.

Kahr MK40. I have had it for 5 years and never one problem with it. It is 5.3 inches overall length, .9 in wide and about 4 tall. A little heavy at 24 oz but it packs a big punch.

The Kahrs are nice if you really want compact but I prefer them in 9mm. For a bit larger gun, the compact CZs would be among my first choices. I would suggest the Glock 27 but with all the Glock-hatin goin on lately, I'd do so with the suggestion to never fire reloaded ammo and as the manual states, not shoot lead ammo at all. Avoid the hotter defensive stuff trying to extract 10mm velocities out of the 40 and your friend should be good to go with the 27.

Haven't held a RAIMI yet but I'm intrigued to say the least but, as with the Kahr, I'd probably look at the 9 over the 40 in a gun quite that small.

Good Info

Thanks again for all your suggestions and information. I should have remembered Sig and HK's compacts. I don't know much about Kahr but I will pass it along to him. I suggested that he look at 9mm and possibly a 9x18makarov but he is dead set on getting a .40. He is going today to fondle some of the possible choices. Will let you know the verdict on what he gets.

thanks again

Another gun about the same size as the SIG239 is the newly introduced Smith Wesson 4040PD ...

... it has a 7+1 capacity and while I only have 200 rounds through it, so far it has been extremely accurate and reliable.
