Is it just me or is this an AR10?

Took this picture in Mexico last week. Didn't think anything of it at first, but then upon further examination, it appeared to be an AR10 or some variant like that. I didn't think these guys carried AR10's.

Took some more pictures of them as well. Saw a lot of M4's, FNC's, and G3's.

This is my little bro who asked the guy if he could take a picture with him.

Really? Looks much longer than a 20rnd AR15 mag to me. My 20 rounders don't stick out as far down as the pistol grip.

The second picture...the close up...isn't an AR. It is a H&K G3 with the A3 collapsible stock. Actually looking at the curvature of the butt plate, it looks like a stock off a 93

Years ago, I was crewing on a yacht that was up out of the water getting new bottom paint in the boat yard in Isla Mujeres ( near Cancun). One afternoon they pulled a sailboat out of the water and found loads of drugs concealed in the hull. Long story short, I hung out all day, shooting the breeze with the Federales while they unloaded this boat ( quite the unique experience, lemme tell ya) and these guys were mostly carrying some kind of Galil variant ( if not actual Galils) like maybe S. African R4's. I was pretty familiar with their usual military weapons down there : the navy liked FAL's, the army carried G3's ( HK91), and the local cops carried everything from Uzis to empty holsters LOL !!!!!
I don't recall ever seeing any AR10s, though.
Anyway,at one point, one of them left a rifle on the ground next to the chick I was hanging out with, while all their backs were turned away observing the drug bust, till the head Federale noticed and screamed at someone to secure that weapon !!!! I was literally laughing out loud, the girl could've picked the thing up and wasted the whole group had she been so inclined. What a bunch of pros, huh ?
And that's just one of a hundred bizarre stories I got from my 13 or so years living in, as we called it, "The Land O' Geniuses". :D

yep, 1st pic looks like an ar10 to me.

nice pics too, hope you had a good time.

how was the weather?

The weather was very nice. I don't have it too bad here in Vegas, but I'd be totally cool with 78 degree days right now instead of 65.

It's all that aid money our politicians keep throwing at Mexico. Last I heard they were talking about giving them another 1.4 billion.

Wow, when I was there last time they IMMEDIATELY waived me off once they saw the camera. They did NOT want their pictures taken. I was in Playa Del Carmen and none of the officers or military seemed to want to have anything to do with cameras. It makes sense, they're really worried usually about cartel hitmen targeting them or their families. Many of them wore masks to hide their identities.
