Actually, I have another story; It may cheer you up.
Long before I was born, my father bought a brand new Winchester M94 while he was stationed in Maine for the Air Force. He registered it on base, and not long after it was stolen. Seven years after he gets out of the Air Force, he receives a call from the base MPs. Someone else had tried to register it! Apparently it had changed hands so many times that they couldn't track down the initial thief, but the gun was still legally my fathers so he drove back to Maine and picked it up. The rifle was still in mint condition!
Sometimes they come back.

they broke in through a second door to my apt that i always figured was nonfunctional (it's more for decoration than anything else... i guess it was used when the house wasn't broken up into different apartments). anyway, i believe there was a lock on it, but it was super old and flimsy so they broke through it.
hopefully everything ends up working out in the long run.
